IB Halloween Activities for PYP, MYP & DP
Halloween is always a highlight at my school. Every October, the halls are filled with spooky decorations, students arrive in their most creative costumes, and our annual costume competition becomes the event of the season. It’s a day full of excitement, laughter, and community spirit—and I love finding ways to bring that same energy into the classroom.
To help teachers celebrate while keeping lessons meaningful, I’ve created a collection of Halloween resources for IB teachers. These activities are designed mostly for MYP students, but there are also some PYP and DP posters and colouring sheets too, so no matter what level you teach, you’ll have festive, IB-connected activities ready to go.
MYP Resources
If you teach MYP, you’ll love these interactive and creative resources that mix Halloween spirit with meaningful learning:
MYP Trick or Treat Game – a lively, fast-paced classroom activity that keeps students engaged.
Learner Profile Spooky Stories – a creative writing challenge where students explore the IB Learner Profile traits through spooky storytelling.
MYP Halloween Riddle Race – a team-based competition that combines critical thinking with festive riddles.
Transform your classroom with Halloween-themed IB decor. It’s a simple way to set the mood and spark excitement, while still keeping a strong connection to the IB framework.
If you want everything in one go, you can grab these resources in a Halloween Bundle—perfect for saving time and money while ensuring your classroom is ready for the season. It also includes a Halloween writing prompts booklet, which is really great as a bell-ringer activity, or for those lessons that are a little disrupted with other Halloween activities.
IB Learner Profile Posters
One of my favorite classroom resources—year-round—are the IB Learner Profile Posters. They make it easy to keep the Learner Profile visible and central in your learning space. You can choose from two unique styles:
Flat Design Posters – modern, bold, and easy to match with any classroom theme.
Vintage Posters – classic and timeless, with a stylish design that adds character to your walls.
These posters pair beautifully with the Halloween resources, but they’re also versatile enough to use throughout the year to keep IB values front and center.
Learner Profile Coloring Pages
And I haven’t forgotten about PYP! I have made some Halloween Themed Learner Profile colouring pages. Each page shows the same student, in a variety of Halloween-themed situations. Each page is accompanied by some simple writing prompts, for students to reflect on the Learner Profile traits during Halloween.
These resources are designed to bring fun, inquiry, and IB connections into your teaching this spooky season. I hope you find them useful!
